Why does Business Logo Design Matter the Most?

Well, the business logo is likely to be one of the first interactions people have with your company and you should always grab this opportunity to make a solid first impression.

The term “Logo” refers to the marks and represents your brand. There are various types of logo designs. It can be a wordmark, lettermark, logomark, an emblem, and combination mark.

Wordmark refers to a standalone word or words. There are many companies that use wordmark logos such as Google, Coca-Cola, Calvin Klein, etc. Many designers favour wordmark logos and consider them the purest form of a logo. Your logo represents your brand and it has to be very catchy that wherever the user sees your logo, it directly recalls your company.

Lettermark contains a letter or an abbreviation – usually the initials of the company. Think of “N” for Netflix, or “Y” for Yahoo and many other companies. Though the use of lettermarks can be very effective, they are not an effective solution for every company out there. It is better suited to companies that have a large enough marketing budget to allow them the time and money required to educate the people on what their logo actually means.

Logomark contains a symbol only. Many big companies like Apple, Nike, Android, etc. use a symbol to represent the brand. It is just an image or symbol used to represent the company. You can use logomark depending on your business type and budget. They do not have the company name or any abbreviation attached to them.

Then comes an emblem. It is a combination of the wordmark, lettermark, or logomark within a shape that is essential to the design. A company logo design matters a lot while branding your business. There are many good examples of emblem logos such as Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles or the NHL logo.

And the last one is the combination mark which contains a wordmark, symbol, and lettermark.

The visual manifestation of your brand identity is your logo. Design matters the most and you know it really well right. Especially when you want people to reach you out and give money and tell the world about you.

Now, how can you create a good logo? Your business logo design should be clear and easily interpreted by the audience to connect with you easily. It is advised to keep your logo simple and not too messy so it works across multiple media platforms and is effective in any size.

Unlike large companies, small companies don’t have much high branding budget and are even not recognized well. So, your logo needs to clearly communicate who you are to your audience and what you do in an instant.

Sometimes deep down you may listen to a little voice whispering “I don’t need a logo at all”. Do not ever listen to that voice. Whether a small or big business, you will require a logo to build your brand. A good logo makes it easier for a person to recognize the brand.

Even if you start a company with a single person, the foremost thing that you should focus on is designing the best logo for your company. Always remember when you invest in branding, you entitle your small business to thrive.

Whether you design your business logo by yourself or hire a professional agency, it is vital to know the differences between these logos. Company logos are designed in such a way to differentiate you from the rest and encourage brand loyalty. Good logo design not only looks professional on the surface but also signifies something deeper.
